Photography is about recording subjects / images by exposing film to daylight , artificial studio light , tungsten light or a combination of two or three . Over the coarse of history there has been many different opinions about photography , but basically its all about “ painting with light “ . “ A camera is like a brush , the film is like canvas , light is the paint "
Of course there are certain rules which must be obeyed , especially if the end product , is a paid commission , & the client his expecting nothing other than the photographers best work . Some of these rules are : correct exposures / shutter speed & apertures , sufficient subject content , composition & light readings , to name a few !
Every photographer has there own unique style , & this will be evident when viewing there folios or work . Most photographers tend to specialize in one market , but there are photographers that cover all , & these are highly skilled & knowledgeable professional individuals .
Never be mistaken about the word “ professional “ photographers that use this word , only provide & use professional products , services & equipment , but occasionally they might use a high street film , for example , to achieve a certain look / finish . But they will undoubtedly use a professional paper to print the final image on .
It also goes without really having to mention , that professional photographers equipment is of the highest standard , & usually nothing but professional will do , “ it’s a little like a jockey riding a thoroughbred “ . Also academic achievements help , when choosing / commissioning a photographer , it categorises the clients selection , but don’t overlook important issues , like years of experience in a certain market . Generally a prospective client will know when they have found the right photographer for their needs .
Since the introduction of digital services , a high % of the public are a little confused , when it comes down to choosing a photographer . Bear in mind your requirements & budget , has both will ultimately have a significant effect on your final decisions . For example : a professional media / newspaper photographer will undoubtedly be using digital means , has the importance of getting the image on the editors desk has fast as possible is the main priority . If its pure image quality you are requiring then only film / emulsion photography will do . Traditional wet prints produced in the darkroom are the ultimate !
Personally from a photographers point of view , I like to think that the products & services that Perfect Images & I offer , are of the very highest professional standards , with a budget to suite every pocket . It's my past clients kind remarks , comments & actions , that inspire me to continue offering the services that I do . I hope for many more years to come I can continue , to pursue photographic excellence & do what I like to do best , take photographs !
